‘International women’s day’ at Lee valley white water centre provided a great backdrop for some of the UK’s top Kayak freestylers to compete and show off their skills, with heats on the legacy course and finals on the Olympic course. For a photographer freestyle is a gift as the competitors create radical moves often inverted. From my experience of having attended ‘Hurley’ (http://www.hurleyclassic.co.uk/) the previous year a constant strong current is essential with a rip to allow the competitors to launch themselves. Multiple European and UK titleholder Lowri Davies proved to the consumerate professional not only with her freestyle but being able to ‘smile’ regardless of the trick she was performing.
International women’s day was hosted by GB Rafting and such close access to the action came courtesy of Sean Clarke.
