ABB FIA Formula E World Championship: London

Such a great event. my second year photographing this for UKSportpics. Two days of practice, qualifying and racing, the London event of the Formula E World Championships completes the season. With a unique track running around and through the centre of Excel it provides challenging racing and a wide variety of opportunities to photograph this dynamic sport

Sail GP Emirates UK Sail Grand Prix

After the UK’s hosting Sail GP at Cowes in its inaugural season and Plymouth afterwards, its been 3 years since the circuit returned to the UK. Portsmouth was selected as the venue and they put on a pretty special show with the sailing course close to the shore making it quite a spectator sport and the action close enough for a wide range of photographic opportunities. GB made the final after an impressive first day though lost out to New Zealand who took the honours. A privilege to cover this event for UKSportspics

Lightfall by Studio52

Delighted to be invited by Studio52 to photograph this unique light sculpture that they designed. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before, the design, the engineering and the craftsmanship are quite spectacular and brings life to a space otherwise quite void. You need to read the details behind this to appreciate it more, you can find them on this link to Studio52’s summary here https://www.st52.com/

The Details Matter

The start of the year is a great time to review work and one thing I have noticed is that during my architectural and interiors assignments just how important the details are. They add context, quality, colour, graphic and purpose and capturing them as images helps our clients with the narrative that allows them to illustrate the project and its value as a whole.

These images come from a wide variety of assignments over the past two years and I would be more than happy share the detailed story behind them, or take look at a few notes on my approach at the foot of this post.

My approach to capturing this type of image recognises the following; (i) an understanding of the project brief, (ii) a good eye, (iii) speed (iv) and understanding of light (v) a notebook and (vi) a proven method of capture. I always walk the space to set out my key shots that will need time to curate. At the same time I look for the those points of detail that will support these key images. These are pretty much all taken handheld using a camera and lens combination that has fabulous stabilisation allowing me to shoot down to 2 seconds when required.

Elite Rugby Academy

Thoroughly enjoyed my assignment to provide stills photography for the Elite Rugby Academy interviews featuring Nash Cohen, Bryony Cleall, Delon Armitage and Sarah McKenna at Saracens home ground, The Stonex Stadium. I have never seen the space so quiet though a fabulous backdrop for this new comprehensive player development programme with some rather special coaching staff.
