The Details Matter

The start of the year is a great time to review work and one thing I have noticed is that during my architectural and interiors assignments just how important the details are. They add context, quality, colour, graphic and purpose and capturing them as images helps our clients with the narrative that allows them to illustrate the project and its value as a whole.

These images come from a wide variety of assignments over the past two years and I would be more than happy share the detailed story behind them, or take look at a few notes on my approach at the foot of this post.

My approach to capturing this type of image recognises the following; (i) an understanding of the project brief, (ii) a good eye, (iii) speed (iv) and understanding of light (v) a notebook and (vi) a proven method of capture. I always walk the space to set out my key shots that will need time to curate. At the same time I look for the those points of detail that will support these key images. These are pretty much all taken handheld using a camera and lens combination that has fabulous stabilisation allowing me to shoot down to 2 seconds when required.

WPP Paris

Delighted to be commissioned by BDG architecture+design to photograph their design for WPP’s Paris Campus. A spectacular environment fashioned within what was originally the Citroën 2CV factory in Levallois-Perret, a western suburb of Paris. WPP’s Campus programme brings together a number of agencies under one roof providing space that can foster greater communication and working together.
