First assignment of 2025 and quite a special one to photograph Square Mile Farms operations at the Orangery in New Oxford Street. So grateful for the opportunity to document this very special space and their activities for them.
The start of the year is a great time to review work and one thing I have noticed is that during my architectural and interiors assignments just how important the details are. They add context, quality, colour, graphic and purpose and capturing them as images helps our clients with the narrative that allows them to illustrate the project and its value as a whole.
These images come from a wide variety of assignments over the past two years and I would be more than happy share the detailed story behind them, or take look at a few notes on my approach at the foot of this post.
My approach to capturing this type of image recognises the following; (i) an understanding of the project brief, (ii) a good eye, (iii) speed (iv) and understanding of light (v) a notebook and (vi) a proven method of capture. I always walk the space to set out my key shots that will need time to curate. At the same time I look for the those points of detail that will support these key images. These are pretty much all taken handheld using a camera and lens combination that has fabulous stabilisation allowing me to shoot down to 2 seconds when required.
Thoroughly enjoyed my assignment to provide stills photography for the Elite Rugby Academy interviews featuring Nash Cohen, Bryony Cleall, Delon Armitage and Sarah McKenna at Saracens home ground, The Stonex Stadium. I have never seen the space so quiet though a fabulous backdrop for this new comprehensive player development programme with some rather special coaching staff.

Delighted to be commissioned by BDG architecture+design to photograph their design for WPP’s Paris Campus. A spectacular environment fashioned within what was originally the Citroën 2CV factory in Levallois-Perret, a western suburb of Paris. WPP’s Campus programme brings together a number of agencies under one roof providing space that can foster greater communication and working together.
A pretty special event every month London’s fire-spinning community converges by the Thames, with the fire spinners doing their thing just after sunset on Ernie’s Beach in front of Gabriel’s Wharf. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page for the next event https://www.facebook.com/groups/londonfirespinners My first visit and certainly a challenge to photograph… so many different options, my approach this time see below.
My initial idea and used to take these images. Long shutter speeds (c.3 secs) to capture the light trails and also set the fire spinning into its setting with the River Thames and City as a wonderful backdrop. Olympus EM1 II with 12-100mm f4 lens and combined stabilisation …one of the best for hand held long exposures
The Serpentine Pavilion 2024 by Minsuk Cho, Mass Studies is rather special, demonstrating physical, personal and cultural space, and one of the best Pavilions of recent years at the Serpentine in my view
